North Cascades National Park First Ascent Chronology

Notes

This section provides a chronological list of first ascents of “Peaks, Pinnacles and Summits with >200 feet of Prominence” in what is now the North Cascades National Park. Most NCNP/NOCA summits were climbed before the National Park was established on October 2, 1968.

Some summits were likely climbed by unknown USGS surveyors (with or without helicopter approach), prospectors, miners, road surveyors, Native Americans, Forest Service, Outward Bound, NOLS groups, geologists, trappers, fishermen, hunters, shepherds, and all manner of independent explorers.

New routes on previously climbed peaks and first winter ascents are not included.

Symbols, sources, and initials of contributors used on the First Ascent Chronology master list are provided here.
